Since 2016, Associazione Seraphicus has been promoting cultural events in the Salento region and beyond, that meet with wide critical and public appreciation, often with a link to the culture of the region. Notable past events include among others a cycle of Beethoven’s symphonies in their historic transcriptions for two pianos and chamber orchestra, which were performed in several historic churches in Nardò, and the cycle Salotti musicali di Lecce, offering unpublished scores preserved in the libraries of the Salento aristocracy.
Seraphicus has recorded with Sky Classica HD the Libetta & Friends concert for piano 2-8 hands, held in the sixth edition of Piano City Milano, as well as for the Nireo label a CD with works by contemporary composers, including Francesco Libetta’s Logoi Neretinoi, premiered at the Municipal Theater in Nardò. Supported by the municipal administration, Seraphicus organizes masterclasses in Lecce, curates the annual Seraphicus Piano Meeting, a cycle of in-depth piano lessons, held by Maestros Carlo Lodovico Cappelletti, Scipione Sangiovanni, Vsevold Dvorkin and visiting professors.
The association frequently offers lectures of a historical-musicological nature, inviting internationally renowned speakers, and regularly cooperates with other cultural associations and foundations. Since 2021, Seraphicus has been an official partner of Piano City Lecce, an international festival born from an idea of Andreas Kern and organized in Lecce by Icon Radio under the artistic direction of Andrea Mariano, multifaceted keyboardist of Negramaro.
